P7 Induction Programme

Our comprehensive P7 Induction programme is designed to ensure a smooth and positive transition to Lurgan Junior High. We begin with a P7 Parent and Pupil Induction Evening in late June, a valuable opportunity to meet our new Year 8 cohort and address any parental concerns. Prior to this, letters will be sent detailing class placements, Form Teacher assignments, and house affiliations.

During the evening, pupils receive their ties, symbolising their entry into Year 8 and their new house, and spend time with their Form Teachers in their new form rooms, engaging in icebreakers, school tours, and first-day planning.

To further ease the transition, Year 8 pupils spend their first two days exclusively, allowing for focused orientation, additional school tours, and familiarisation with routines. For the first week, Prefects will support each Year 8 class during Registration, providing an additional point of contact.

Canteen routines will be introduced gradually over the first two weeks, and teacher escorts between lessons, along with priority bus boarding, will be implemented for the initial fortnight.

We recognise the challenges of this transition and are committed to providing individual support, fostering a strong home-school partnership to ensure a successful and positive start to Year 8.
