Blog Post

6th August 2020

Dear Parent/Guardian,

I hope that you and your families are keeping well.

Parents will be aware that today, the minister for Education, Mr Peter Weir, made an announcement in relation to the restart of schools later this month.

In particular, Mr Weir indicated that the guidance, given to schools on 19th June 2020, would be revised over the next week and issued to schools, with a view to achieving “maximum face-to-face in class teaching time for all pupils” (where this is safe to do so), at “the earliest opportunity”.

As it stands, Lurgan JHS has plans in place for a variety of scenarios, and we will, of course, consider the advice from all sources to ensure that the return of pupils and staff, (in whatever form that takes), is both safe and practicable.

The situation, as you are aware, is very fluid and you will appreciate that it demands great flexibility on the part of school staff, parents and pupils. Rest assured, the staff of Lurgan JHS will do their utmost to organise our safe return to school.

Naturally, I will communicate again with you when the revised guidance has been published and school has had time to carefully consider it. In the meantime, I convey to you all my best wishes.

J. McCoy.

Principal
