Winners of Queen’s University Planning School Competition!

To round off their study of settlement this term, the Geography department teamed up with Queen’s University Planning school to launch a competition. The pupils were given 2 weeks to design a brand new settlement, taking into account all of the different considerations that Town Planners would think about, as well as incorporating their map skills from earlier on in the year. In different meetings with Mr McFarland, Dr Michael from Queens University said how she was “really impressed with the level of detail on pupils maps and the clear effort and skills displayed” and how “she could definitely see some of our pupils going down the route of planning in the future”. Well done to all of the entries and an special well done to the winner, Joe G, runner up, Alfie S and the special commendations, Grace C, Jacob F and Andrew B.

Winning entry, Joe G.
