Our Campus

Lurgan Junior High School is proud of its rich history and expansive campus, which reflects its evolution from separate boys’ and girls’ schools into the thriving coeducational environment it is today. The two prominent tower blocks, once home to the boys’ and girls’ classrooms, stand as a reminder of our past. These buildings are now seamlessly connected by the ‘link corridor,’ a symbol of unity installed in the early 1990s to mark the school’s coeducational status.

Beyond the main building, our campus boasts impressive facilities. Two external gymnasiums complement the indoor gymnasium and Assembly Hall, providing outstanding spaces for sports and activities. At the heart of our school lies the Ferris Library, a cherished extension added to the original 1959 structure.

The Positive Impact Centre, formerly the English Department, overlooks the sports pitches and offers a dedicated space for student support and engagement. Meanwhile, our separate canteen ensures minimal disruption to lessons during the three scheduled lunch periods for each year group.

As one of the largest campuses in the Armagh, Banbridge, and Craigavon area, we are fortunate to offer top-tier outdoor facilities. Our Astro and 3G sports pitches, widely used by the local community, are scheduled for an exciting upgrade in June 2025. Alongside our rugby pitches, which have been integral to our recent sporting success, these facilities serve both our students and local teams, including Glenavon FC and Lurgan Ladies.

Lurgan Junior High School remains a hub for the community, both during the school day and in the evenings. We take immense pride in maintaining our campus as a welcoming and versatile space for learning, sports, and community engagement.

Lurgan Youth Annexe is also located within the Lurgan Junior High School grounds and offers children and young people aged 8 – 25, a wide range of activities and projects aimed at supporting emotional, personal and social development outside of the school setting.

All staff are fully trained in youth work practices to engage with children and young people, supporting their learning and providing educational opportunities which aim to develop confidence and resilience.

Lurgan Youth Annexe is a safe environment where children and young people can express themselves and most importantly have fun with peers.
